We stayed in the summer holidays and the accommodation was perfect for families - our son had his own room and ensuite meaning we could relax in the evening outside or in front of the fire on cold evenings without worrying about waking him. Karen and her family made the stay feel as though we were part of their extended family - she even received our groceries order and brought it inside! Now that's service. Steele's Mill is a perfect choice for exploring the lake district without the crowds - there is enough to entertain yourselves as a family without even needing to go to the lakes if you relish the simple things in life - fishing in the river, cycling walking, red squirrel stalking, enjoying a good pint at the local pub - only 10mins walk away.Bring your wellies, bring your dog and some wine - and just relax! You wont regret it.
My husband and I stayed with our daughter and 2 dogs for 3 nights at Steele's Mill. If only it could have been longer. This is a perfect place to stay for visiting the local villages and driving to the Lakes. However the star of our stay was definitely the Mill. It has been lovingly restored to an amazing standard with so many quirky nooks and crannies and gorgeous furnishings. It is lovely to have access to such a beautiful property which is dog friendly. Our dogs were slightly startled to be wakened in the morning with a herd of cows staring up from the neighbouring field. Karen came to greet us and was happy to chat away and answer our questions about the Mill and its restoration. A real find and we certainly hope to be returning but next time with more time to enjoy.
Just come back from an amazing holiday at Steeles mill. The mill was beautifully decorated and was very welcoming and cozy. Lovely walks along the river & not far from Appleby. We would recommend this mill to anyone who is looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday. Thankyou for allowing us to stay
