Guest Reviews for Steele's Mill

What our guests say...

Myself and my wife stayed at the Steele Mill cottage for 3 days recently, and were both extremely impressed with the service provided and condition of the property.
Everything was as described, and we had a fabulous time with our little dog Indie!
We both can’t speak highly enough about the experience, and we would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a little retreat and relaxing break.

A beautiful characterful property with lots of peace and quiet.

The outside space was perfect for the dogs (and us humans)

This was the most amazing place to stay!

We had one of the best holidays we can remember. The accommodation was not only of historic interest but beautifully presented and really comfortable. Karen and Martin were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Steele’s Mill is perfectly situated for hikes around the various lakes whilst not being in the thick of it. This way you combine peace and tranquility with good access to all that the Lakes has to offer.

Our third stay at Steele’s Mill and as wonderful as ever!

Such a comfortable house with lots of thoughtful touches to make us welcome. Lovely walks from the door and many more nearby in this beautiful and still relatively undiscovered corner of Cumbria.

Steele’s Mill is absolutely enchanting

We went there to be close to the Lake District but ended up loving the house as much as the National Park. The house was spacious, well equipped and full of character but it was the outdoor space that stole our heart. Having a whole field and river to ourselves was magical, especially with small children. Karen’s welcome was wonderful too: warm, friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be back.

We spent three nights at Steele’s Mill in December….

…and had the most wonderful time! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side (not unexpected in England in December), but we still managed to do some exploring not only of the glorious countryside around the Mill but also the Lakes and the Pennines, which are easy drives away. Most importantly we were able to relax by the gas fire, cook in the (well-stocked and beautiful) kitchen, and switch off from the outside world! The dog had an excellent time too! Would 100% recommend Steele’s Mill and we are keen to visit again in the spring.
